Telecommunication and Engineering

Telecommunications engineering is an engineering discipline that brings together various fields of engineering to enhance Telecommunication systems. Telecommunication Engineering focuses on development, design and maintenance of voice and data communication systems.

Department of Telecommunication was established in the year 2003, with an AICTE approved intake of 60. The Department is currently headed by Mrs C.S.Mala.

The Department imparts knowledge in various fields like Communication, Signal Processing and Embedded Systems. The Department has a team of well qualified and experienced staff members, most of whom are pursuing their doctoral degrees. The Department has well equipped, sophisticated laboratories with skilled technical staff, which helps the students in enhancing their theoretical knowledge by hands-on practical sessions. Placement through the campus is excellent.

  1. Department of Telecommunication engineering got VTU permanent affiliation in the month of January 2017.
  2. Department of Telecommunication engineering has been recognised as research centre from 2017-18 academic year.
  3. RajuHajare attended 6 days “SOUTHERN INDIA SCIENCE FAIR -2017” organised atPondichery as a Judge in panel of Judges for the event during 04th- 09thJan-2017.
  4. C.S.Mala successfully completed her Ph.D. final viva on 23rd January 2017. Madam name to be addressed with Dr. C S Mala .

  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems
  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex Engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, Natural sciences and engineering sciences

  1. The Department takes pride in the exemplary performances by students in VTU examinations. The results have been consistent.   2. STUDSAT, a consortium of seven engineering colleges from Bangalore and Hyderabad launched a PICO satellite (July 2010) by Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, which is first of its kind in India. BMS Institute of Technology and Management participated in this project by providing both financial assistant and manpower assistant to this project from TCE and ECE Department.
  3. The Department inaugurated ?TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION (TEA)? a unique platform for young aspiring minds to move a step ahead in innovation.
  4. The Department of Telecommunications releases an annual Departmental magazine ?TELECHRONICLE? which focuses on the recent developments in science and technology.
  5. The IETE Students Forum was inaugurated by the Department of Telecommunication Engineering in 2015.
  6. The faculty members have published several scientific papers and books.
  7. The Department organizes regular industrial visits to equip the students with practical knowledge and its implementation. ISRO, BSNL, Vignesh Vidhyuth controls-based on Power and Special Type Transformer, Air force station Yelahanka ,Visveswaraya Technological Museum,BHEL, are a few visits in the recent past.
  8. In the quest for academic excellence leading to global standards and to provide a platform for the students graduating from the portals of BMSIT, the Department has adopted the practice of Outcome Based Education (OBE).
