Telecommunication and Engineering

Telecommunication is an engineering discipline that brings together various fields of engineering to enhance Telecommunication systems. It focuses on development, design and maintenance of voice and data communication systems.
Department of Telecommunication was established in the year 2003, with an AICTE approved intake of 60. The Department is currently headed by Dr. C. S. Mala.
The Department imparts knowledge in various fields like Communication, Signal Processing and Embedded Systems. The Department has a team of well qualified and experienced staff members. The Department has well equipped laboratories with skilled technical staff.
Placement through the campus is excellent.

STAFF ACHIEVEMENTS:

  1. BEST POSTER PRESENTATION : For project titled “Performance Analysis of FINFET and Nanowire for Future Nano electronics” in June- 2014 at JNTUH by Prof Raju Hazaare.
  2. BOOK PUBLICAITONS: Two books were published by Prof. Ganapathy Hebbar viz. Digital Switching Systems , Optical Fibre Communications, both published by Sanguiene.
  3. PUBLICATIONS: Department has produced over 70 research publications by the faculty members in various international and national journals as well as international and national conferences.

Teaching Learning Process:

In the quest for academic excellence leading to global standards and to provide a platform for the students graduating from the portals of BMSIT, the Department has adopted the practice of Outcomes Based Education (OBE).
Some of the staff members are practicing Cooperative Learning Methods..
1. Partial Delivery of the subjects by Industrial Experts are also being conducted.
2. Audio Visual Aids are being used by the staff to deliver abstract concepts.
3. NPTEL Lectures are also made available for teaching and learning.

  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems

  2. The Department has a TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION known as TEA. It is a unique platform for young aspiring minds to show case their technical and cultural talents.
  3. The IETE Students Forum was inaugurated by the Department of Telecommunication Engineering in 2015. A talk on Role of Semiconductors was delivered by Mr. D. G. Rao of LRDE on this occasion.
  4. The Department of Telecommunications releases an annual magazine, known as. TELECHRONICLE, wherein the students and staff technical publications, articles, arts and other contributions of the students and staff for the betterment of the department is published. The recognitions and awards won by the staff and students are also showcased.
  5. In the quest for academic excellence leading to global standards and to provide a platform for the students graduating from the portals of BMSIT, the Department has adopted the practice of Outcome Based Education (OBE).
  6. STUDSAT, a consortium of seven engineering colleges from Bangalore and Hyderabad launched a PICO satellite (July 2010) by Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, which is first of its kind in India. BMS Institute of Technology and Management participated in this project by providing both financial assistant and manpower assistant to this project from TCE and ECE Department.
