About the Examination Section


The Examination Section of BMS Institute of Technology and Management supervises all examination and evaluation activities under the autonomous framework. The Institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and has held autonomous status since 2021. The Examination Section conducts assessments for all programs in a timely, transparent, and accurate manner. It plans and implements Continuous Internal Evaluation and Semester End Examinations in accordance with approved academic VTU regulations.

Dr. M. C. Hanumantharaju
Professor in Electronics and Communications Engineering


Profile: Dr. M. C. Hanumantharaju received his B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Bangalore University in 2001, his M.Tech. in Digital Communication and Network Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, in 2004, and his Ph.D. in VLSI Signal and Image Processing from VTU, Belagavi, in 2014. He is a Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at BMS Institute of Technology and Management, Bengaluru. He has authored two books and more than 50 research papers published in reputed journals and conference proceedings, including IEEE publications. He serves as a reviewer for leading journals such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, Computers and Electrical Engineering, and the Journal of Microscopy and Ultrastructure. His research interests include hardware architecture design for signal and image processing, computer vision, RTL Verilog coding, synthesis and optimization of integrated circuits, and FPGA and ASIC design

Message from CoE for all the Stakeholders


The Examination Section plays a vital role in maintaining academic standards and ensuring transparency, confidentiality, and fairness in all assessment processes. We are committed to conducting examinations in a systematic, timely, and student-focused manner.

Our responsibilities include planning and scheduling examinations, coordinating with departments for question paper setting and scrutiny, conducting examinations, digital valuation, result processing, and publication of results. We also facilitate services such as revaluation, photocopy of answer scripts, and issuance of transcripts and certificates. In addition, we support students in creating Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) and APAAR IDs and ensure timely uploading of grade cards and Provisional Degree Certificates to the National Academic Depository.

We work in close coordination with students, faculty members, Heads of Departments, Deans, and administrative staff to uphold the integrity of the examination system. Continuous improvement, adoption of digital processes, and adherence to university and regulatory guidelines remain our priority.

Dr. Rajesh Gopinath
Professor in Department of Civil Engineering


Profile: Dr. Rajesh Gopinath has 18 years of teaching experience and currently serves as Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. He has held key administrative roles within the institute, including Head of the Department and Deputy Placement Officer, and is presently the Deputy Controller of Examinations (Planning and Conduction). He also mentors environmental NGOs and Eco-Clubs in Karnataka and Arunachal Pradesh. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering, along with master’s and bachelor’s degrees in environmental engineering, and additional qualifications in Environmental Law and an MBA. In 2024, he had completed a Postgraduate Certification in IoT from IIT Jammu. An ISO 14001:2015 EMS Lead and Internal Auditor, he actively undertakes Green and Environmental Audits. His accolades include the Green Teacher's Award in 2025, Shreshta Guru Puraskar conferred by the Governor of Kerala in 2024, Global Environment and Climate Educator Award in 2022, Young Environmentalist Award in 2019, Young Faculty Award in 2018, and Young Scientist Award in 2017, along with 7th and 2nd university ranks in UG and PG respectively. He has secured funded projects from VTU and the Bureau of Indian Standards, guided multiple funded undergraduate projects, and published 27 indexed papers, 3 handbooks, 2 textbooks, and 15 media articles, 62 citations spanning 17 countries. He has received multiple Best Paper awards, delivered 52 invited talks, engaged in 18 bio-inventory expeditions, and also contributed to India’s first national Peacock Census (2008), He is also the creator of globally recognised environmental comic strip “Contrasting Earth.” His research area envisages Urban Climatology, Urban Ecology, Urban Flooding, Ambient Air Quality, Waste Management etc.

  7. Appointment of Question Paper (QP) Setters and Scrutiny of QPs
  8. Listing Board of Examiners (BoE) members for QP scrutiny.
  9. Conduction of the BOE meeting.
  10. Proofreading, Printing & Delivery of QPs.
  11. Conduction of Theory and Practical Examination and Maintaining confidentiality during the examination.
  12. Anti-malpractice counselling
  13. Conduct of Make-up examination for the ‘I’ and ‘X’ grade students.
  14. Supplementary Examination Registration and Examination Conduction.

Dr. Deepa N. Reddy
Associate Professor in Electronics and Communications Engineering


Profile: Deepa N. Reddy received her B. E in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Mangalore University, Mangalore in the year 2001, M. Tech in Digital Electronics and Advanced Communication from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal in the year 2004 and Ph.D degree from Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune in the year 2019. She is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication engineering at BMS Institute of Technology and Management, Bengaluru, India. Her research interests include Signal processing for wireless communication and dynamic spectrum access in Cognitive Radio networks.

Valuation and Results Publication


  1. Cutting, Scanning, Verification, & Uploading of Answer Scripts to Digital Valuation System (DVS).
  2. Preparation of internal and external valuator List and Issuing of Appointment orders.
  3. Conduction of Digital Valuation.
  4. Verification of Marks, Grades, SGPA and CGPA Calculations.
  5. Publication of Results.
  6. Providing facilities such as Answer script viewing, Photocopy, Revaluation, Challenge Valuation for the students.
  7. Issuing the grade cards, Transcripts and Provisional Degree Certificates (PDC).
  8. Digital storage of Grade Cards.
  9. Assist students in creating Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) and Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) IDs.
  10. Upload grade cards and Provisional Degree Certificates (PDCs) to the National Academic Depository (NAD).

In summary, the Examination Section works in close coordination with students, departments, faculty members, HoDs, and Deans for all examination-related activities
