About the Department


The Department of Information Science and Engineering started in the Year 2010 with an approved intake of 60 and enhanced to 120 from the academic year 2018-19, 180 from the academic year 2019-20 and 240 in the year 2023-24. The Department has qualified and dedicated faculty members who practice OBE in the academic deliverables. The faculties have published research articles in various National, International, IEEE Conferences, and Journals which are indexed in SCOPUS, Web of Science, and other prestigious indexing research databases.

The department has modern laboratories to serve the teaching and research needs of the students as well as faculty members. The department has been proactively organizing conferences, workshops, expert lectures, and student-centric activities to encourage students and faculty to instil lifelong learning. Some of our students are working on consultancy projects along with faculty members. The staffs are encouraged to attend the 10 days internship to bridge the gap between the academics and industry. The department has an admirable research ambiance.

Department has well established industry supported lab from various companies emphasizing specific competencies improvement and exploring avenues for collaborative research work, easy access to domain expertise and most importantly addressing the critical short of skilled workforce in various domains of information science.

The dept has 31 faculty members who are Ph.D holders and highest in the among any dept in BMSIT&M and these members are pioneers in the leading areas of research work in Cyber Security, AI, Data Science, Computer Vision, Computer Networks and Database systems. Many faculty hold high degree of merit in terms of the published book, awards, prestigious journals and many more.

  1. Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
