The Department of HSS was created in October 2021 and is headed by Dr. Tejaswini B J, Assistant Professor. The department comprises English faculties - Dr. Kavita B Harihar, Prof. Chaithanya K R and Dr, Deepa and Kannada visiting faculties - Prof. Shivakumar H K and Prof. Krishnappa S. The department handles language courses like Communicative English, Professional Writing Skills in English, Samskruthika Kannada, Balake Kannada and mandatory courses like Indian Constitution, Intellectual Property Rights and Cyber Law, Universal Human Values, Sports, NCC, Music, Yoga, NSS and Indian Knowledge System.

With an objective to enhance the English proficiency of the UG and PG students, the department has introduced English Lab in first and second semesters. The course is offered through Quiklrn's Adaptive Learning English Lab with an integrated learning service for a personalised learning experience. This course is thoughtfully designed to comprehensively improve English language communication skills. It covers every essential aspect, including grammar, effective speaking, active listening, reading comprehension, and writing. By focusing on these core areas, the course aims to build a strong foundation for overall proficiency in English..

One credit courses like Indian Constitution, Scientific Foundation and Health, Samskruthika and Balake Kannada, Environmental studies, Universal Human Values are assessed online through the Quiklrn assessment platform. Online tests are password protected and timed. The Randomize feature helps to set up a unique question set for each student.

Apart from the above academic activities, Reader’s Club an Institutional level literary club and Rotaract club, an institute level Community service and professional development club is managed by the department.
