Entrepreneurship is increasingly recognized as an important driver of economic growth of a country. Even Govt. of India has recognized the importance of entrepreneurship and has introduced programs like "Make in India" & "Start-up India".
The aim of Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) at BMSIT & M, is to develop and strengthen entrepreneurial qualities in the budding professionals who are interested in starting their own ventures. The College provides infrastructure and technical support to the students having innovative ideas to transform into new products and services for the betterment of the society. The EDC also assists all the aspirants with mentoring, planning and execution of their start up idea into a real business. The EDC has maintained a pool of Sponsors like banks, national entrepreneurship training agencies and suppliers, who are willing to aid budding entrepreneurs.
Hence an Entrepreneurship Development Cell was constituted in the college with a dedicated team of actively working faculty who has an industry exposure along with some student representatives. Aspiring engineer entrepreneurs are groomed with the necessary inputs on how to be a successful entrepreneur through workshops and seminars by eminent people from the industry. At EDC, we encourage the students to consider self-employment as a career option, providing necessary training in Entrepreneurship skills through standardized courses. The cell also organizes different activities and events from time to time to train and motivate the students on entrepreneurship.
Ignite was first event for the year 2019-20 by the EDC. It was held on 3rd Oct 2019, The event motivated the students to take up Entrepreneurship and had a Q&A session with the Speakers who were successful entrepreneurs.
Evenings with EDC is a new online initiative to keep the students motivated during the Lockdown. The first episode was held on 25th May 2020. The Speaker was the Co-Founder of CEO of Skillenza Mr. Subhendu Panigrahi who spoke about his journey of Entrepreneurship
In the times of pandemic, EDC is continually making efforts to motivate students across various streams through Online Webinar and events and instagram page.
The Second episode of Evenings with EDC was conducted on july 17. The Speaker was India STEMS Alliance’s Mr. RAJ KAPOOR who in depth explained the Basics of Blockchain and its future. In the Q & A Session Mr. Raj Cleared all the doubts in most simplest manner possible.
The second edition of the Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp was held in 2 batches, from 10 Feb 2020 to 12 Feb 2020, and from 13 Feb 2020 to 15 Feb 2020. The EAC was Sponsored by DST-NIMAT and EDII, Ahmedabad with an objective to enhance knowledge and kindle the skills of the young minds aspiring to be successful entrepreneurs. There were briefings and workshops conducted and on the last day the students were taken for an industrial visit. The students were taken to Cognizant and a manufacturing unit in Bangalore.
Almost 85 Students from CSE and ISE dept. attended the trip and were introduced to cyber security and Cognizant work culture by Mrs. Shanti, Director (Cyber Security) in a 1 hour long informative session. Under which she talked about the various trends and basics of cybersecurity, after an interactive hour long session, another session was scheduled with Mr. Ram (HR, Cognizant) who introduced the students to cognizant work culture and its CSR events
This program was conducted to convey the importance of Technology in startups and the way tech startups are build. Two successful entrepreneurs shared their experiences. It was held on 5th Nov 2019 during “Tech Transform”, BMSIT&M’s annual technical fest.
The panel discussion was also held on 5th Nov 2019 in the afternoon session. It was on the topic “Digital Disruption”. The panel consisted of 4 eminent Entrepreneurs, and the panel was moderated by the Principal of BMSIT&M.
